The name "Ar Nouveau" refers to an elegant multi-genre style that was popular from the beginning
of the 1880s until the First World War. Ar Nouveau lines often resemble dancing wavy arabesques,
imbued with organic energy, the vitality of plants. All his life the owner of the apartment admired
romanticism and magic beauty of the works of Victor Hort, Paul Ankara that inspired him to chose
Belgian Art Nouveau style. In the beginning of the reconstruction the architect offered complete
redevelopment of the house. Combining a living-room with a corridor and a hall with a kitchen
extremely enlarged and opened spaces. To divide space into functional zones we used arches,
columns with stained-glass windows and various floor coverings. Following the architect’s sketch a
decorative alabaster medallion with inside stained-glass window was inset on a ceiling. Big balcony
glass doors add maximum airiness and light to the interior of a living-room and a kitchen. The
decision to apply Ar Nouveau style for a bedroom, an office and a bathroom effectively enriched
the whole décor concept.
